Fluid mechanics
Primary tabs
This course aims to introduce students to the basic principles and equations of fluid mechanics in the context of numerous and diverse real-world engineering applications. The course will help students develop an understanding of the fundamentals of fluid mechanics by emphasizing the physics of fluids at rest and in motion. On completion of this course the students should be in a position to explain the behaviour and properties of fluids (static and dynamic). They will be able to solve problems involving Newtonian incompressible fluids using 1-D mass, momentum and energy balances; apply these basic principles in flow measurements; solve pipeline problems; solve simple 1-D problems in compressible flow.
